SUMMARY

Operates the Nuclear Medicine equipment and ancillary support systems to perform diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures per provider orders, in accordance with approved techniques, policies, regulatory standards, and organizational policies. Responsible for all radioisotope utilization, storage, and safety per NRC regulations. Adheres to standards set by the NYS Department of Health and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Canton-Potsdam Hospital is a not-for-profit community healthcare facility with 94 beds, providing emergency medicine, acute care, hospitalist medicine, and critical care. We also offer outpatient services across multiple locations in NY.

STATUS: Full-time

LOCATION: Canton Potsdam Hospital

DEPARTMENT: Nuclear Medicine

SCHEDULE: 7.5-hour shifts, 7am-3pm

ATTRIBUTES

  • Required: NYS Department of Health Licensure, ARRT Certification, NYS License - Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • NMTCB Certification
  • Experience: 2 years Radiologic Technologist, 2 years as a Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • BLS certification within 3 months of hire

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer radioactive drugs and clarify procedures
  • Monitor radioactive drugs using nuclear medicine equipment and imaging for interpretation
  • Manage radioactive drugs' storage, safekeeping, and disposal according to safety standards
  • Practice radiation protection to minimize exposure
  • Follow organizational standards for patient identification, education, consents, and infection control
  • Participate in QA/QC procedures and maintain related standards
  • Report regulatory information to Radiation Safety Officer and Committee

UNION: 1199-721 - LPN & Technical (CPH)

Note: Not all per diem roles are union eligible

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS: Refer to department-specific requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium work, exerting 20-50 lbs occasionally, 10-25 lbs frequently, and up to 10 lbs constantly. Requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $34.56 - $51.26, based on experience and qualifications. Pay may vary in the future and includes potential additional components.
