SUMMARY

Operates the Nuclear Medicine equipment and ancillary support systems to perform diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures per provider orders. This is in accordance with approved techniques, policies, and regulatory standards as established by regulatory agencies, and standards and policies set forth by the organization. In accordance with NRC regulations, assumes responsibility for all radioisotope utilization, storage, and safety. Adheres to the professional standards of the NYS Department of Health and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Canton-Potsdam Hospital is a warm and caring not-for-profit community healthcare facility with 94 beds. Our mission is to provide exceptional healthcare services to the community. We offer a wide array of core programs including emergency medicine, acute care, hospitalist medicine, and critical care. We also provide outpatient health services in Brasher Falls, Canton, Colton, Gouverneur, Massena, Norfolk, and Potsdam, NY.

STATUS: Full-time

LOCATION: Canton Potsdam Hospital

DEPARTMENT: Nuclear Medicine

SCHEDULE: 7.5-hour shifts, 7am-3pm

ATTRIBUTES

• Required: New York State Department of Health Licensure, Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), New York State License-Nuclear Medicine Technologist
• NMTCB Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board
• Experience: 2 years Radiologic Technologist, 2 years as a Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist
• Registered with ARRT
• New York State License-Nuclear Medicine Technologist
• BLS certification within 3 months of hire

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Detailing and clarifying procedures in the administration of radioactive drugs
• Monitoring the administered radioactive drug in patients using nuclear medicine equipment, including scanners and computer systems, and imaging results for interpretation
• Maintaining proper stocking, safekeeping, and disposal of radioactive drugs in compliance with safety and regulatory standards
• Practicing radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure to patients, family, and staff, and verifying status as appropriate per department and regulatory standards
• Following organizational standards including patient identification, education, consent, order verification, and infection control
• Participating in QA/QC procedures and maintaining standards for equipment, image quality, documentation, and radioisotope reporting
• Maintaining and reporting regulatory information and documentation to the Radiation Safety Officer and Committee

UNION: 1199-721 - LPN & Technical (CPH). Note: Not all per diem roles are union eligible.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS: Refer to department-specific requirements for experience, educational expectations, and continuing education.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium work; exerting 20-50 pounds occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly; requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $34.56 - $51.26. The listed range is a good faith estimate and may be adjusted based on experience, qualifications, and other factors.
