Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging procedures and ensure patient safety and comfort. You will prepare patients, administer radiopharmaceuticals, and operate imaging equipment while maintaining high-quality data and accurate records.

The role requires 3–5 years of experience, state licensure or certification (CNMT/ARRT N) and Illinois accreditation as needed, plus CPR/BLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine program.
• Minimum 3–5 years experience required.
• CNMT or ARRT(N) required; IEMA-DNS accreditation if Illinois.
• CPR or BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs Nuclear Medicine procedures and related techniques for diagnostic images.
• Prepares patients and instructs to gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
• Operates nuclear medicine equipment and positions patient safely.
• Maintains venous access, prepares radiopharmaceuticals with correct isotope and dose.
• Evaluates images for technical quality and documents findings and safety events.
• Uses PACS/EMR for reporting, archiving, and image sharing; adheres to protocols.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms Nuclear Medicine procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation.Prepares patients for procedures insuring patient's meets requirements.Provides instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.Applies principles of Nuclear Medicine safety to minimize risk to patient, self and others.Operates nuclear medicine equipment and other associated equipment to achieve desired results.Positions the patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety and comfort. Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination.Selects appropriate parameters with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.Performs venipuncture, starts and maintains venous access.
