Mercyhealth in Illinois is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging, prepare patients, administer radiopharmaceuticals, and evaluate images for physician interpretation.

The role requires CNMT or ARRT(N), 1–3 years preferred, with flexibility to work days across Rockford and Freeport locations, while adhering to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine program.
• Minimum one (1) to three (3) years experience preferred but will consider new graduates.
• CNMT or ARRT(N) required; IEMA-DNS accreditation required if working in Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Performs Nuclear Medicine procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
• Prepares patients for procedures ensuring requirements are met and provides instruction to obtain desired results.
• Operates nuclear medicine equipment and other related equipment to achieve diagnostic results while prioritizing safety.
• Positions patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting safety and comfort.
• Evaluates images and data for technical quality and documents all information in the electronic medical record.

Job description

OVERVIEWA Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs specialized imaging procedures to help doctors diagnose and treat medical conditions. They prepare and care for patients, operate imaging equipment, safely administer radioactive materials, evaluate images, and document all necessary information for the patient’s medical record.SCHEDULE: 32-hours per weekSHIFT: Days, 6:30am -3pmLOCATIONS: Rockford, three days per week, and Freeport, 1 day per weekESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms Nuclear Medicine procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation.Prepares patients for procedures insuring patient's meets requirements.Provides instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.Applies principles of Nuclear Medicine safety to minimize risk to patient, self and others.Operates nuclear medicine equipment and other associated equipment to achieve desired results.Positions the patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety and comfort. Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination.Selects appropriate parameters with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.Performs venipuncture, starts and maintains venous access.
