The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for the White River Junction VA Health Care System. In this role, you will perform nuclear medicine procedures, maintain equipment, and ensure compliance with safety standards, ultimately contributing to the well-being of veterans. This Job Opportunity Announcement will be used to fill a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, GS-0601-9 position in Diagnostic Imaging Service at the White River Junction VA Health Care System in White River Junction, VT.
Duties
Nuclear Medicine Technologists are responsible for providing a wide range of specialized nuclear medicine procedures, including diagnostic imaging, radio-assay, evaluating abnormal results; using and maintaining equipment; setting up and monitoring quality control; working within guidelines from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Department of Transportation (DOT), National Health Physics Program, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), among others.

Basic Requirements
Grandfathering Provision: May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (applicable to current VHA employees in this occupation meeting the criteria).
Grade Determinations
Nuclear Medicine Technologist, GS-9
Experience: Completion of 1 year of creditable experience equivalent to the GS-07 level, demonstrating knowledge of NRC regulations, medical sciences, radioactive package handling, and ability to interpret Geiger-Mueller meters.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Ability to document radiation exposure, knowledge of medical events documentation, communication skills for post-therapy safety precautions, troubleshooting gamma camera equipment, and analyzing computer data for quality control.
