Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA seeks a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging, prepare radiopharmaceuticals, and ensure QA/QC compliance. The successful candidate will position patients, administer doses, educate patients, and maintain documentation under physician supervision.

The role requires ARRT CNMT certification/licensure with a trade school certificate in radiologic sciences and is open to new grads.

Qualifications

  • AR RT CNMT certification/licensure required.
  • Radiologic sciences education from a trade school.
  • Experience in Nuclear Medicine procedures preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and analyze diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures in ambulatory setting under physician supervision.
  • Position patients to demonstrate correct anatomy/pathology.
  • Prepare, dose-manage and administer radiopharmaceuticals; operate radiation producing equipment.
  • Ensure QA/QC standards per state/federal/local agencies and radiology policies.
  • Provide patient/family education and discharge instructions; document procedures.
  • Maintain IV competency and proper supply inventory.

Provide the best patient care and practice radiation safety standards at all timesJob DescriptionConducts general Nuclear Medicine imaging of patients, within scope of demonstrated competency under the direction of a qualified physician, to include: positioning of patient for demonstration of correct anatomy/pathology. Competent in preparation, dose management and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, radioisotopes, operation of radiation producing equipment, operation of the electronic radiology systems, preparation of patient room/equipment, provides patient and family education and maintains adequate supply inventory. Explains examination procedure and discharge instructions to patient and completes departmental documentation. Complies with all radioactive activity monitoring and documentation. Performs to all quality control and quality assurance standards as prescribed by all state, federal, and local agencies.
