Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital

Pursue your passion for caring with Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville, North Carolina. The smallest of Duke Health's four hospitals at 123 beds, it offers a comprehensive range of medical services, including 24-hour emergency care, cardiology, orthopedics, women's services, and surgical specialties.

Summary

Coordinate and participate in a variety of technical tasks, tests, and determinations involving the utilization of radioactive materials and measurement instrumentation.

Work Performed
  1. Coordinate and participate in a variety of technical procedures.
  2. Operate radiation detection and measurement instrumentation including stationary imaging devices, scintillation gamma, and apparatus for in vitro counting.
  3. Calibrate and prepare radiopharmaceutical materials for patient administration.
  4. Review calibration data to detect trends indicating instrument malfunction.
  5. Calculate data including patient study results and radioactive decay.
  6. Evaluate recorded images for technical quality.
  7. Process computerized image data, including function curves and reconstructed SPECT images.
  8. Assume care for the physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations.
  9. Maintain inventory and records of radiopharmaceutical activities.
  10. Provide instruction and guidance to students and new staff.
  11. Monitor for contamination and perform EKG prep and tracing.
  12. Assist in developing new procedures and techniques.
  13. Administer thyroid therapy and ensure proper treatment under supervision.
  14. Assist in quality assurance and training activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of radiation safety, computer skills, IV management, and office software proficiency.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate or completion of a relevant program, certification within 18 months of employment, with experience requirements depending on the level.

Certifications

ARRT (N) and/or NMTCB certification, BLS certification.
