Job summary

Providence Medical Center is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging procedures and therapies using radioactive materials on a per diem basis. Shift available: Days; no weekends. Location: Kansas City, KS.

Hours are variable and PD/PRN as needed. Responsibilities include preparing radiopharmaceuticals, administering radiopharmaceuticals, and performing imaging studies with SPECT, while strictly following radiation safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Current State Nuclear Medicine License issued by CDPH, ARRT or NMTCB.
  • Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology required.
  • Graduate of a program accredited by ARRT.
  • Current BCLS (AHA) required.
  • Extensive knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology is required.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • One year of acute, clinical radiology experience is preferred.
  • At least one year of experience as a nuclear medicine technologist preferred.
  • Knowledge of mobile and stationary Radiographic / Fluoroscopic equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare radiopharmaceuticals for administration to patients and measure/mix doses with accuracy and safety.
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients via IV, oral, or inhalation routes.
  • Perform imaging studies using nuclear medicine equipment incl. SPECT.
  • Operate imaging cameras/detectors to capture images of radioactive tracers.
  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols and proper handling/storage/disposal of radioactive materials.

Education

State Nuclear Medicine License (CDPH/ARRT/NMTCB)
ARRT Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology
Graduate of ARRT-accredited program
BCLS (AHA)
Anatomy knowledge
Proficient computer skills
Acute radiology experience (1 year)
Nuclear medicine technologist experience (1 year)
Mobile and stationary radiographic/fluoroscopic equipment knowledge

We are seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, also referred to as a Nuclear Med Tech. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will perform diagnostic imaging procedures and therapeutic treatments using radioactive materials. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.



Responsibilities


  • Prepare radioactive materials, known as radiopharmaceuticals, for administration to patients, measure and mix the appropriate doses of radioactive isotopes with pharmaceutical compounds, ensuring accuracy and safety

  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients through various routes, such as intravenous injection, oral ingestion, or inhalation

  • Perform a variety of imaging studies using specialized nuclear medicine equipment, which may include Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT)

  • Operate imaging cameras and detectors to capture images of radioactive tracers as they accumulate in specific organs or tissues within the body

  • Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and yourself, ensure that all radioactive materials are handled, stored, and disposed of safely and in accordance with regulatory guidelines



Qualifications


  • Current State Nuclear Medicine License issued by CDPH, A.R.R.T. or N.M.T.C.B.

  • Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology required

  • Graduate of a program accredited by ARRT

  • Current BCLS (AHA) required
