The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will be responsible for the safe receipt, handling, transport, usage, and disposal of radioactive materials. They will assist in developing internal clinical guidelines and protocols, ensure patient safety, and maintain a patient-centric customer service focus.
Qualifications:
- United States Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- English Language Proficiency: Proficient in spoken and written English.
- Certification: Certified in nuclear medicine technology by NMTCB or ARRT (N).
- Education: Completion of an accredited nuclear medicine technology program with clinical training in radiation safety, instrumentation, procedures, and radiopharmacy. Transcripts required.
- Experience: At least 1 year of creditable experience at the next lower grade level, serving in advanced assignments including complex imaging procedures and therapies.
- Preferred: Certification in Nuclear Cardiology, CT, or PET/CT; Basic Life Support (BLS); and additional certifications like NCT or PET/CT.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to produce high-quality scans, understand ancillary equipment, knowledge of physiologic processes, patient preparation, developing protocols, and radiation safety management.
Assignments:
- Perform complex nuclear medicine procedures independently, including PET/CT, SPECT/CT, and advanced therapies.
- Work scope includes quality management, equipment maintenance, and compliance with safety regulations.
- Physical requirements include lifting, carrying, reaching, standing, and visual acuity.
Duties:
- Provide a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures, including diagnostic imaging and therapy.
- Evaluate abnormal results, maintain equipment, and ensure safety protocols.
- Patient care activities include preparing, administering radiopharmaceuticals, and monitoring vital signs.
- Operate nuclear medicine equipment, participate in quality assurance, and departmental inspections.
- Participate in scheduling, safety programs, and quality improvement projects.
- Perform hybrid imaging, analyze images, and recommend techniques.
- Follow safety guidelines, including patient identification and exposure calculations.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, various start times; on-call rotation not available. Telework and virtual options are not available.
