Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join a hospital or imaging department in California. The NMT will perform diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures, prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment, and ensure high-quality images while maintaining patient safety and radiation protection standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, verify, and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to physician orders and facility protocols.
- Perform nuclear medicine diagnostic imaging and related procedures.
- Operate and maintain nuclear medicine cameras, scanners, and related equipment.
- Position and prepare patients for examinations and explain procedures clearly.
- Monitor patients throughout procedures and respond appropriately to patient needs.
- Review images for technical quality and ensure required views have been obtained.
- Maintain accurate patient, procedure, and radiopharmaceutical documentation.
- Follow radiation safety, infection control, and departmental protocols.
- Perform venipuncture and IV-related duties when required and within scope.
- Work with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Assist with equipment quality control and maintain a safe imaging environment.
- Follow all applicable state and federal regulations regarding radioactive materials.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
- Recent Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience in a hospital or imaging setting.
- Current California Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) authorization/certificate through CDPH Radiologic Health Branch.
- Current ARRT(N) or NMTCB/CNMT certification, as applicable to California requirements.
- BLS certification preferred/required based on facility requirements.
- Strong knowledge of nuclear medicine procedures, radiopharmaceuticals, radiation safety, and imaging equipment.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Strong communication and patient-care skills.
Preferred Experience
- Hospital-based Nuclear Medicine experience.
- Experience with SPECT/SPECT-CT, PET/CT, and other nuclear medicine imaging systems.
- Experience with PACS/RIS and electronic medical records.
- Experience with a variety of diagnostic nuclear medicine studies.
Candidates must meet applicable California Department of Public Health – Radiologic Health Branch requirements for Nuclear Medicine Technologists. California recognizes qualifying ARRT and/or NMTCB credentials for the NMT certification process.
