Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Child Development/Child Life or related field with concentration in child life.
• Completion of 600-hour Child Life internship under supervision of a certified specialist.
• Certification as a Child Life Specialist required within 1 year of hire.
• Excellent writing and communication skills, including conflict resolution, for team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Participate in therapeutic activities to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs and facilitate adjustment to health care experiences.
• Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
• Provide support to patients and families from birth to young adults.
• Support procedures, siblings, development, and bereavement.
• Provide coping support for patients with both short and long-term hospitalizations.
• Maintain resources, including ordering and stocking unit areas.
• Delegate work to volunteers and participate in clinical training of student interns.
