About the Department

The Nuclear Medicine department, encompassing PET/CT, serves outpatient, inpatient, and emergency room patients by performing diagnostic and therapeutic quality imaging procedures. As a member of the nuclear medicine and PET/CT team, you support the delivery of safe patient care at Valley Children’s Healthcare.

Job Summary
  • Perform standard, specialty, and complex nuclear medicine procedures with little or no supervision using radiopharmaceuticals with accuracy, producing quality studies under a variety of conditions.
  • Prepare radiopharmaceuticals for administration to patients.
  • Perform venipuncture and catheterization duties as needed.
  • Apply sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and nuclear medicine principles.
  • Perform quality control procedures to ensure federal, state, and departmental standards/requirements are met.
  • Assist in monitoring the daily quality assurance of the unit, ensuring equipment operates according to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving work‑process issues within the department.
  • Apply the profession’s code of ethics in all aspects of practice.
  • Maintain, observe, and enforce safety measures in the Environment of Care.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma (required); Program Graduate of a formal program in Nuclear Medicine (preferred).
  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • BLS – Basic Life Support – AHA (required)
    • NMT – Nuclear Medicine Technologist – CDPH (required)
    • CNMT – Certified Nuclear Med Technologist – NMTCB (preferred)
    • RT‑N – Rad Tech Nuclear Medicine Technology – ARRT (preferred)
  • Work Experience: Minimum six (6) months in Nuclear Medicine (required).
  • Skills and Abilities: Bilingual skills preferred.
