Job summary

Carilion Clinic is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for the day shift in Roanoke, VA. The role involves performing radiologic procedures, operating imaging equipment, and administering diagnostic doses under supervision.

You will prepare patients, explain procedures, and coordinate with the healthcare team to deliver safe, effective care. Qualifications include a CAHEA-recognized education, NMTCB/ARRT certification, BLS, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a CAHEA School of Radiologic Technology and/or CAHEA School of Nuclear Medicine Technology or equivalent.
  • Experience in Nuclear Medicine preferred.
  • Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology by NMTCB or ARRT.
  • AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
  • Apply knowledge of growth and development to care for all patients served.

Responsibilities
  • Performs a variety of technical procedures to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis of patients of all ages.
  • Operates highly specialized technical equipment to obtain images and test results.
  • Administers diagnostic and therapeutic doses to patients under direction of an authorized user by IV, inhalation, and ingestion.
  • Prepares patients for examinations and explains procedures, correlating patient history with tests to be performed.
  • May assist with scheduling, registration, image management and computer processing for patients.
  • Evaluates, prepares and observes patients with professional ethics, care, courtesy, patience and safety.
  • Interacts with staff, patients, physicians, families, management, ancillary departments and general public.
  • Develops and manages the plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Interprets information to identify patient requirements relative to age and specific needs, providing care per applicable policy and procedures.
  • Participates in training of students and staff as assigned.
  • Enhances personal and professional growth through educational opportunities.
Qualifications

Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a CAHEA School of Radiologic Technology and/or CAHEA School of Nuclear Medicine Technology or equivalent.

Experience

  • Experience in Nuclear Medicine preferred.

Licensure / Certification

  • Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology by NMTCB or ARRT.
  • AHA BLS-HCP certification required.

Other Minimum Qualifications

  • Apply knowledge of growth and development to care for all patients served.
  • Knowledge of radiopharmacy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintains Nuclear Medicine certification and obtains required CEUs per certification board.
Compensation

Hourly wage range: $36.87 – $55.31. The range is based on qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. Benefits and pension plans are not included in this range.
