Overview

Nuclear Med Technologist I

St. Joseph Health – Bryan/College Station Navasota Caldwell Madisonville TX. Since 1936 St. Joseph Health has been caring for the communities in and surrounding the Brazos Valley. We have a Level III Trauma Center, the first Joint Commission certified Primary Stroke Center, and the first accredited Chest Pain Center in the Brazos Valley. St. Joseph Health is a leader in critical care and the largest provider of cardiovascular care in the region. As an integrated healthcare system, St. Joseph Health includes a comprehensive network of over 100 employed providers including primary care physicians, specialists, and advanced practice clinicians. The network includes more than 30 ambulatory clinics featuring primary care, Express Clinics, and imaging and diagnostic services.

The Nuclear Medicine team member is responsible for patient schedules, assisting the radiologists in the performance of complex procedures, coordination of equipment maintenance and quality assessment (QA). The technologist maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase their level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and participate in a variety of technical procedures to include in vivo and in vitro studies; operate radiation detection and measurement instrumentation including stationary imaging devices, scintillation gamma, and apparatus for in vitro counting.
  • Calibrate and draw up radiopharmaceutical materials for administration to patients; formulate radiopharmaceutical materials from pre-prepared kits.
  • Process computerized image data to include function curves and reconstructed SPECT images.
  • Perform Nuclear Cardiology studies including image acquisition, processing, and monitoring patient vital signs. Perform EKG prep, tracing, and monitor for obvious change during cardiac studies.
  • May rotate shifts or be in an “on call” status as needed or directed by the organization.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Completion of an accredited nuclear medicine technology program.

Required Licensure:

  • RTN or CNMT.
  • MRAD - Texas.
  • BLS - AHA.
