Perform nuclear medicine technologist duties in compliance with Radiology Department and legal requirements. Help patients feel comfortable during the entire process. Perform selected nursing, lab, administrative, and clerical duties that assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management under the direction of a Physician, PA, or NP. These duties are delegated in relation to the individual’s degree of training, in accordance with the objectives and policies of the organization and respective state laws governing such actions and activities.

Any technical information needed to perform Nuclear Medicine Scans is located in the green Technical Information for Nuclear Medicine Procedures. Other functions for the Nuclear Medicine Technologist are:
II. Quality Assurance Tests and Radiation Safety
Includes daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly checks on equipment, dose calibrators, hand meters, radiopharmaceuticals, and safety procedures, following strict protocols to ensure safety and accuracy.
III. Administrative
Organize Radiation Safety Committee meetings quarterly, attend workshops, and seminars to stay compliant with JCAHO continuing education policies.
IV. Other Duties
Assist in collecting, processing, and typing Radiology Quality Assurance Data, ensure Crash Cart is stocked and functional, monitor film badges, and instruct staff on radiation safety procedures.
V. Record Maintenance
Maintain records of radioisotope handling, quality assurance tests, and equipment maintenance in compliance with regulations.
VI. Sealed Sources
Perform semiannual wipe tests and quarterly source activity recordings of sealed radioactive sources.
VII. Instrumentation
Operate imaging equipment, perform quality control, record instrument status, and coordinate repairs as needed. Conduct daily contamination checks.
Must be able to perform all duties satisfactorily. Requirements include:
Regularly required to stand, walk, handle, reach, talk, hear; occasionally sit, climb, kneel, crouch. Must lift/move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Adhere to Chinese Hospital Compliance Handbook, including ethics and regulations. Report suspected violations.
Starting at $74.46 – $89.48 per hour. Final salary depends on experience, education, and other factors. This scale is not a promise of specific wages.
