Job summary

Shields Health Care Group is seeking a PET technologist to perform advanced PET/CT imaging and support brain imaging research protocols across two Maine locations. You will travel to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston and York Hospital in Wells on a rotating schedule, ensuring patient safety and high-quality imaging.

Qualifications include ARRT/NMTCB registration, state licensure, CPR, and at least one year in nuclear medicine.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which you are employed.
  • Must be CPR certified.
  • Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.
  • A minimum of one year nuclear medicine experience is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must be proficient in starting IVs.
  • Must be able to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to assist patients with mobility difficulties.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols for patient safety.
  • Adhere to NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO rules.
  • Inform patients about exam details to their level of understanding.
  • Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure radiotracer concentrations.
  • Perform all hot lab responsibilities.
  • Maintain patient safety and comfort during procedures.
  • Position patients accurately and maintain contact throughout exams.
  • Complete all forms pertaining to patient exams and enter data.
  • Provide and issue films when appropriate and forward data to Radiologist.
  • Refilm cases as time allows and assist clerical staff as needed.
  • Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms.

Job description

Job Summary: $20,000.00 Sign-on Bonus available!! In keeping with Shields Health Care commitment to excellence, the PET technologist will provide a professional, caring atmosphere to all customer groups, while maintaining a fast-paced, multi-tasked oriented clinical environment.

  • Perform advanced PET/CT imaging procedures, including participation in brain imaging & neurologic research protocols supporting innovative clinical studies.

You will:

  • Utilize specialty PET radiotracers such as PSMA, Ga-68 NetSpot, and Illuccix, expanding expertise beyond standard FDG imaging. This shift for this role requires travel to two locations, Central Maine Medical Center: Monday 6:00am - 7:30pm, York Hospital in Wells: Wednesday 7am-8pm Central Maine Medical Center: Friday- 6:00am - 7:30pm
Job Description: What you will do
  • Follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.
  • Follow rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO.
  • Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding.
  • Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of Radioactive Isotopes in specific body areas and body products.
  • Performs all hot lab responsibilities.
  • Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards.
  • Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.
  • Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.
  • Complete all forms pertaining to patient’s exam.
  • Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.
  • Provide and issue films when appropriate.
  • Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.
  • Refilm cases as time allows.
  • Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.
  • Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.
Required Qualifications

  • Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which he/she is employed to work
  • Must be certified in CPR
  • Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.
  • A minimum of one-year prior nuclear medicine experience is required.

Additional Job Description
  • Pay range for this position is $40 - $60/hr + benefits.
  • Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
