Job summary

Duke Energy's Catawba Nuclear Plant in North Carolina is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to join the Plant Engineering-Operations Support Engineering team. You will support preventive maintenance, analyze equipment health, provide technical leadership to Operations and Maintenance, and influence long-range asset strategies to ensure reliability of critical power plant assets.

The role offers a 4-day, 10-hour workweek with a hybrid schedule (at least 2 days on-site).

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science in Engineering; Master’s degree may substitute for the BS.
• Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates high conduct of safety culture (personal, nuclear and environmental).
• Monitor and trend system performance to identify issues proactively.
• Provide input to station management on work priority for long-term reliability.
• Review maintenance window scope and advise on work prioritization to minimize unavailability.
• Lead or support engineering during internal and external audits and inspections.
