Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking an MC&A Specialist to lead the nuclear material safeguards program at our TRISO facilities in Utah. You will ensure accurate accounting, control, and protection of SNM in line with DOE and NRC requirements.

You will build and maintain MC&A plans, manage material balance areas, perform measurements, inventories, and reporting, and support inspections with a focus on continuous improvement and regulatory alignment.

Qualifications

• Experience in nuclear material control and accounting or safeguards.
• Familiarity with DOE orders (474.2, 470.4B) and NRC regulations (10 CFR 74).
• Ability to manage records, reports, and regulatory inspections.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the MC&A Plan and procedures.
• Oversee nuclear material measurements, inventories, and transactions.
• Maintain accounting records and documentation per regulatory requirements.
• Prepare for regulatory inspections and audits.
• Lead root cause analyses for inventory differences and continuous improvement.
