Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking an experienced MC&A Specialist to lead the nuclear material safeguards program at TRISO manufacturing facilities. You will ensure accurate accounting, control, and protection of SNM in compliance with DOE and NRC requirements.

The role involves managing material balance areas, inventories, measurements, and reporting, with a focus on continuous improvement and regulatory readiness in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in nuclear material control and accounting or nuclear safeguards.
• Experience at a site handling Special Nuclear Material; commercial, DOE, NNSA facility, National Laboratory, etc.
• Demonstrated knowledge of DOE/NEO orders (474.2, 470.4B) and NRC regulations (10 CFR 74).
• Experience with MC&A software systems and database management.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the MC&A Plan and procedures.
• Oversee all nuclear material measurements, inventories, and transactions.
• Manage MBAs to ensure accurate material tracking.
• Report to NMMSS and maintain accounting records per regulatory requirements.
• Conduct LEID analysis and regulatory compliance activities.
• Prepare for regulatory inspections, audits, and assessments.
• Lead root cause analyses for inventory differences or safeguards anomalies.
• Drive continuous improvement of safeguards effectiveness and efficiency.
