Job summary

X Energy, LLC is seeking a Materials Engineer to join its Nuclear Engineering team in Maryland. The role involves qualifying and modeling materials, including metallic alloys, graphite, composites, and welding materials for nuclear reactor applications.

You will develop testing programs, select materials, and prepare specifications, while collaborating across disciplines to ensure material qualifications and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in materials engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
• Master’s degree may substitute two years of experience.
• Ph.D. may substitute three years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement methodologies to qualify and characterize materials for nuclear reactor applications.
• Support selection of materials, test methods, codes and standards, and prepare material specifications.
• Inform development of materials testing programs to collect properties and establish basis for qualifications.
• Use engineering tools to assess microscale behavior, degradation, and lifetime performance of materials.
• Write and develop design and analysis documentation in accordance with procedures.
• Develop V&V plans for analytical tools and support tool qualification.
