Job Summary

Under direct supervision during shift work, performs skilled routine and multitask duties in the laboratory, shops, and field within normal and radiological areas of the plants. Responsibilities include installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of equipment related to electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation & control systems. Successfully completes the scheduled Instrument & Control Technician Apprentice-Shift Training Program.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Perform scheduled maintenance, calibrations, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation and controls, including reactor protection equipment.
  2. Assist in maintenance on microprocessor, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic instrumentation and control systems.
  3. Verify and comply with Equipment Clearances and Radiological Work Permits during maintenance work.
  4. Maintain proper operation of control systems through diagnosis and calibration.
  5. Complete all training commitments in the I&C Technician Apprentice-Shift Training Program, accredited by the National Academy for Nuclear Training.
  6. Maintain calibration and maintenance areas for radiation monitoring equipment.
  7. Keep work areas, test equipment, and lab equipment in a safe and orderly condition.
  8. Support safe operations and maintenance across the nuclear site.
  9. Accurately document all job-related tasks and activities.
  10. Follow all regulatory and site procedures, including emergency plans and technical specifications.
  11. Assist in maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting within radiological areas during plant operations.
  12. Conduct “pre-critical checkout” of reactor controls and instrumentation.
  13. Set up test equipment and assist engineers in testing station equipment.
  14. Perform rigging for handling I&C equipment and materials.
  15. Support computer personnel with hardware repairs, calibration, soldering, and wiring tasks.
  16. Maintain reactor control rod drive and control equipment.
  17. Assist in modifying control panels for new or upgraded instruments and controls.
  18. Perform multitask duties as assigned.
