Job summary

Vistra Nuclear Operations Company is seeking a dedicated Instrumentation & Control Technician Apprentice for shift work at the Shippingport site in Pennsylvania. You will perform maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and testing across electrical, mechanical, and I&C systems under supervision, while progressing through the accredited apprentice program.

The role requires two years of post-secondary education or equivalent, and the ability to work in radiological areas, lifting 50 pounds,

Qualifications

• Two year post-secondary education or equivalent experience for the role.
• Pass Instrument & Control Technician Apprentice qualification test and EEI Standardized test.
• Complete initial and ongoing training per the I&C Training Program.
• Knowledge of electronic equipment and circuitry; some knowledge of magnetic amplifier equipment.
• Familiarity with mechanical instrumentation and control in nuclear power stations.
• Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation and control circuits.
• Ability to read sketches, prints, and written instructions.
• Knowledge of company safety regulations and practices.
• Capable of passing discipline eye examination standards.
• Familiarity with electrical and mechanical measurements.
• Familiarity with digital electronics and microprocessor-based technology.
• Physically able to wear protective clothing and respirators for nuclear work.
• Able to work in elevated or confined spaces and radiation fields.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds of tooling and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, calibrations, troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation and controls.
• Assist in major maintenance and calibration of reactor protection equipment.
• Maintain calibration and operation of microprocessor, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Verify compliance with radiological work permits and clearances.
• Set up test equipment and assist engineers in testing station equipment.
• Document all tasks and ensure safe operation of control systems.
