Job summary

Vistra Nuclear Operations Company is seeking a Nuclear Equipment Operator to operate station equipment in accordance with Administrative, Procedural, and Regulatory requirements. The role involves inspecting equipment, monitoring performance, and taking action on material conditions in alignment with control room guidance.

The position requires teamwork, strong communication, and the ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, with responsibilities including firefighting, rescue, and chemical spill

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, or GED equivalent required.

• Strong teaming skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect assigned equipment, complete documentation associated with these inspections, and adjust equipment as necessary for proper equipment and system operation.
• Monitor trends in equipment performance and inform control room of any unexpected indications.
• Identify and initiate actions for material condition issues.
• Perform the initial actions required in response to an off-normal condition, and perform follow up actions as directed.
• Identify and correct any abnormal conditions, hazards to personnel or equipment, or challenges to continuous service, if possible, and report any findings to the Control Room.
• As a member of the site Fire Brigade, perform firefighting, rescue and chemical spill response activities.
• Perform surveillances and special test activities.
• Satisfactorily participate in a continuing training program structured to maintain and enhance job proficiency skills and prepare for NRC license examination.

• Inspect assigned equipment, complete documentation associated with these inspections, and adjust equipment as necessary for proper equipment and system operation.


• Monitor trends in equipment performance and inform control room of any unexpected indications.


• Identify and initiate actions for material condition issues.

• Previous Nuclear experience (Navy or Commercial)


• Previous power plant experience

Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions:

• Must be able to climb stairs, work above and below ground, and lift loads up to fifty pounds


• Must be able to wear a respirator


• Must be able to be a Radiation Worker


• Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts

Applicant will be required to successfully complete the following to be considered for the position:

• Plant Operations System Selection (POSS) test


• Fire Brigade physical


• Requisites to obtain unescorted access to the power plant, which include: psychological examination, drug screen and security background check.
