Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a Chemical Engineer to join the Reactor Program Manager’s team in Idaho Falls. You will design and optimize chemical processes powering future nuclear energy systems, and contribute to research programs with hands-on system design, testing, and modeling.

The role involves traveling up to 30% to DoW installation locations, collaborating across engineering disciplines, and ensuring designs meet stringent standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemical Engineering from ABET-accredited program or advanced degree with relevant experience.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience supporting DoW programs and nuclear-related work.

Responsibilities

• Enable the DoW nuclear energy programs for installation and operation.
• Document design to ensure conformance with requirements and standards.
• Establish testing, inspection, and quality requirements.
• Develop processes for separating liquids and gases and generating electrical currents.
• Create process flow diagrams and heat/material balances.
• Develop physics-based mathematical models to verify designs.
