Job summary

Battelle Energy Alliance seeks a Chemical Engineer for INL's Reactor Program Manager team in Idaho Falls. You will design and optimize chemical processes powering nuclear energy, and support national security and advanced energy systems.

You’ll run simulations, develop process controls, and guide prototypes across DoW-aligned programs. The role emphasizes hands-on design, modeling, and testing in a cutting-edge R&D environment with opportunities to secure funding and lead innovative research

Qualifications

ABET-accredited BS in Chemical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
Advanced degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Q clearance.
Experience supporting DoW programs.
Experience supporting nuclear.
Strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

Engineer the separation of liquids and gases and build systems for chemical processes powering nuclear energy.
Create process flow diagrams and material balances.
Run simulations and hazards analyses to define design parameters.
Monitor plant systems and performance and identify critical issues.
Hands-on system design, fabrication, and testing on cutting-edge R&D programs.
Develop physics-based models to validate designs.
Conduct laboratory research to prove new principles and concepts.
Identify new research opportunities and assist in securing funding.
Travel up to 30% to DoW installation locations.
