Job summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking experienced Electrical Design Engineers for a mid-level role in Lenexa, KS or Oak Ridge, TN. The position focuses on design engineering for nuclear projects, requiring strong practical engineering skills and travel readiness.

Responsibilities include power system studies, specifications development, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, cost-effective designs that meet client expectations. A PE license or ability to obtain is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years in electrical system design for industrial or nuclear power plant projects.

Responsibilities

• Power System Studies: detailed AC/DC calculations using ETAP (short circuit, voltage drop, arc-flash, motor starting, relay coordination).
• Procurement & Vendor Support: develop/review equipment specs; participate in bid evaluations and track vendor Q&A.
• Design Development: prepare scoping docs and constructability reviews; design/review lighting, communications, and security systems.
• Collaboration & Client Interface: coordinate with multidisciplinary teams; engage with clients and implementation personnel.
• Travel: visit client/vendor offices and plant sites for design reviews and coordination.
