Job summary

Jobtailor in North Carolina is seeking a talented nuclear engineer to join our analytical team. You will lead evaluations in areas such as anticipated operational occurrences, transients without scram, and thermal-hydraulic analyses for BWRs, supporting safe and efficient plant operation.

The role requires a BS in engineering, 2+ years of nuclear experience or a relevant MS, and skills in C#/FORTRAN/PYTHON. You will prepare technical reports and communicate findings to customers with precision.

Qualifications

BS in engineering; nuclear focus preferred.
2+ years nuclear experience or Master’s degree.
Eligibility to access export-controlled information.
Experience with BWR core simulation and thermal-hydraulic codes.
Background in power or process plant thermal hydraulics.
Knowledge of nuclear engineering fundamentals.
Knowledge of two-phase thermal hydraulics.
Programming experience in C#, FORTRAN, or PYTHON.

Responsibilities

Learn and apply analytical methods to solve problems.
Lead projects including evaluations and analyses of ATOs, ATWS, reactor heat balance, and thermal hydraulic analyses.
Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations in containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD analyses.
Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses in the area of BWR stability.
Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, and calculations.
Communicate and present complex technical issues to internal and external customers and recommend solutions.
Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with regulatory rules, customer requirements, and QA standards.
