Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Nuclear Engineering and related fields. You will collaborate on design, modeling, and analysis of critical and subcritical experiments, develop radiation measurement instrumentation, and participate in safety reviews in the Nuclear Criticality Safety Division.

This position offers a hybrid schedule with some days remote. Applicants must hold a PhD and U.S.

Qualifications

• PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DOE Q-level clearance.
• Experience with radiation transport methods (MCNP, SCALE, GEANT, Serpent, OpenMC).
• Proficiency in Python, FORTRAN, and C++ for simulations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in the design, modeling, and analysis of laboratory critical and subcritical experiments.
• Collaborate in the development of radiation measurement instrumentation and measurement of radiation fields.
• Design and oversee fabrication of equipment as required.
• Develop experimental procedures and guide through safety and management reviews.
• Assist in performing criticality safety evaluations of laboratory work.
• Publish research results in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
