The Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN is seeking an entry-level Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer in Training. This role provides foundational NCS capabilities under the guidance of experienced engineers to ensure safe handling of fissile materials.

You will learn to perform safety analyses, participate in audits, and apply NCS codes and cross-sections while pursuing a path from Associate to Specialist with strong professional development support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Engineering/Physical Science from ABET-accredited program, US or equivalents.
• GPA requirements: 3.0/4.0 for Bachelor's; 3.3 for Master's; 3.5 for Ph.D.
• Advanced degrees require a technical undergraduate degree.

Responsibilities

• Learn to perform Criticality Safety Analysis of equipment and processes under supervision.
• Participate in surveillance, inspections, walkthroughs, appraisals, or audits of fissile material operations.
• Provide NCS interpretations and advice; validate and operate nuclear codes and cross-sections.
