Job summary

Paschal Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer to join our team supporting clients in Piketon, OH and Oak Ridge, TN in a hybrid role with periodic on-site work for facility walkdowns and team collaboration.

The role focuses on establishing strong NCS programs, performing safety analyses, and developing validation models to ensure safe fissile material operations. A 3–5 year background in nuclear criticality safety is preferred, along with DOE Q clearance and US

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in nuclear criticality safety or related nuclear engineering roles.
• Ability to obtain a DOE "Q" Clearance (Active "Q" clearance strongly preferred)
• U.S. Citizenship with no dual citizenship

Responsibilities

• Support management in establishing and maintaining strong nuclear criticality safety (NCS) programs with technically sound analyses
• Perform comprehensive NCS analyses and develop safety basis documentation for fissile material operations
• Develop and validate computer models using radiation transport calculation systems to support NCS analyses
• Establish operational limits and controls to maintain safe and efficient facility operations
• Ensure NCS requirements are effectively implemented across all operational activities
• Participate in audits, inspections, incident investigations, and design reviews
• Conduct NCS assessments and reviews of work packages, procedures, work instructions, authorization basis documents, and operational documentation
• Apply expertise in criticality code verification and validation, criticality benchmarks, criticality alarm assessment, and criticality safety evaluations
