Job summary

Framatome is seeking a Component Engineering Designer in Lynchburg, VA. You will develop detailed CAD models and drawings for mechanical and structural components and translate engineering concepts into fabrication-ready designs.

Your work spans from conceptual sketches to detailed installation drawings, ensuring accuracy and manufacturability. You will collaborate with engineers on plant-focused design challenges, review drawings, incorporate field data, and support repair and modification

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with drafting and CAD coursework.
• Minimum of 8 years of related experience.
• Advanced knowledge of CAD workstations for 2D/3D drawings.
• Ability to interpret and apply design criteria and technical docs.
• Experience with multi-disciplinary design environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for mechanical/structural components.
• Translate concepts into fabrication-ready designs with drawings and BOMs.
• Create part, assembly, fabrication, installation, and detail drawings.
• Detail drawings with dimensions, tolerances, weld symbols, material specs, notes, BOMs.
• Collaborate with engineers to solve plant-specific design challenges.
• Review existing drawings to understand equipment configurations.
• Integrate field measurements and as-found conditions into designs.
• Support repair, replacement, modification, and installation designs.
• Participate in design reviews and address drawing comments.
• Assist with engineering changes and maintain configuration control.
