Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a Civil/Structural Design Engineer at the entry level to support design, analysis, and plant modification activities at the Catawba Nuclear Station. The role involves work on structures, systems, and components within an operating nuclear plant, with supervision and opportunities to develop independence.

The candidate will assist with design changes, pipe stress analysis, field verifications, and documentation, advancing toward higher responsibility in a structured program.

Qualifications

• Good written and oral communication skills.
• 0–2 years of engineering experience for Level I.
• 2–4 years of engineering experience with nuclear exposure for Level II.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering/technical guidance for routine civil/structural design problems.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and sketches for design issues.
• Support plant modification packages, field walkdowns, constructability reviews, and cross-discipline coordination.
