Job summary

Radiant, an El Segundo-based startup, seeks a Certification Engineer to define and govern design standards for our portable nuclear reactors. You will bridge systems engineering, design, manufacturing, and operations to ensure hardware meets requirements and radiates through from analysis to test and certification.

You will lead design reviews, guide engineers through verification campaigns, and drive changes that improve core, structures, and fluid systems.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering.
• 2+ years of full-time experience with engineering problem solving in design, analysis, or test of systems.
• Experience with complex hardware and processes related to manufacturing, integration, testing or operations.
• Applied understanding of requirement derivation, negotiation and verification or experience with the product design process especially as it relates to defining systems, interfaces and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop, own, and continuously improve design criteria, standards, and requirements for reactor core, structures, fluid systems, electronics, and shielding.
• Provide critical peer review and approval of hardware designs during design reviews; confirm acceptance and qualification test campaigns.
• Engage with Engineering to drive optimized designs while shepherding them through the design review process, verification testing, and part release.
• Guide engineers through the Radiant design process and ensure design criteria/requirements are being followed for reactor design, manufacturing, and test activities.
• Collaborate with responsible engineers throughout the entire design process, ensuring design criteria are properly considered in the development of hardware.
