This posting is for a Test Mechanic within Nuclear Test Operations (1st Shift).
This position involves mechanical testing of nuclear components according to their respective test procedures, performing mechanical alignment and checks for both primary and secondary side detectors, and acting as a Safety Technician to ensure systems are properly tagged out, isolated, and de-pressurized for safe work by other trades.
The candidate must be able to interpret mechanical system diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and Test Equipment Drawings for building and installing test gear supporting system testing.
The individual must understand and adhere to the EB Safety Manual, technical manuals, and department instructions when working on ship’s equipment.
Heavy lifting, crawling, and working in confined spaces are required.

The applicant must be medically qualified to serve as a Contamination Worker, including obtaining and maintaining dosimetry, and pass all trade training qualifications such as Grade A and Steam Plant Cleanliness.

Exposure to acids or alkalis, cold, dry, dusty, fumes, hot environments, inside and outside conditions, noise, oily environments, and wet conditions.
