Job summary

Northern Stamping, Inc. is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor in Cleveland, OH to oversee plant operations and production schedules on the 2nd shift. Responsibilities include training staff, managing shift schedules, and enforcing quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise production line operation in accordance with plant policies and procedures.

• Manage shift schedule: work station assignments, vacations, breaks, overtime, back-up for absences, rotations.
• Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers.
• Coordinate staffing levels with HR and Plant Manager.
• Schedule and conduct shift meetings.
• Meet shift production and downtime goals.
• Ensure quality control and adjust during shift to stay within specs.
• Operate within SOPs and JSAs.
• Communicate with other Shift Supervisors and Plant Manager.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Complete shift paperwork and process audits.
• Assist in production as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

Supervises staff and operations of all departments within the Plant on 2nd Shift. Maintains production schedules, Plans and assigns work, performs pre-shift meetings, trains employees, and has authority for hiring, termination, discipline, and performance decisions. Responsible for maintaining product quality standards. Performs and oversees inspections and audits. Assists Support Departments in the Plant to troubleshoot production problems and take preventive or corrective action. Recommends changes to improve quality and reduce costs. Makes sure all employees follow all Company rules and Regulations, SOP's, and Policies.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise production line operation in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
• Train and coach production line employees.
• Conduct employee performance reviews.
• Responsible for shift schedule to include: work station assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations.
• Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers.
• Coordinate with Human Resources and Plant Manager for appropriate staffing levels.
• Schedule and conduct shift meetings.
• Responsible to meet shift production goals.
• Responsible to meet shift downtime goals.
• Responsible for quality control. Make adjustments as necessary during shift to produce product within specifications. Reject product outside of specifications.
• Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
• Communicate with other Shift Supervisors and Plant Manager.
• Ensure a clean and safe work area.
• Complete shift paper work.
• Complete process audits as scheduled.
• Assist in production as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Familiarity with weld operations
• Prior supervisory experience
• Previous supervisory experience in a union environment a plus
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Familiarity with MS Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery. This is normally acquired through two to five years of manufacturing experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and workboots.
