Job summary

St Charles Park District is seeking an Entry Level, Part-Time Associate at Norris Recreation Center in St. Charles, IL. You will deliver high quality recreation services to residents and visitors while following safety and district policies.

This role offers weekend and holiday flexibility and requires strong communication and customer-service skills. Responsibilities include greeting customers, processing memberships and registrations, handling payments, and maintaining a welcoming service

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills are a must.
  • Knowledge of greeting the public courteously, obtaining information and providing accurate guidance.
  • Maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Maintain DCFS mandated reporter certificate or obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Prefer a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prefer work experience in reception and customer service, including basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and accommodate customers; answer telephones.
  • Process memberships and registrations, collect fees, issue receipts, and initiate refunds.
  • Notify class participants of changes or cancellations.
  • Maintain an orderly and professional service desk and lobby.
  • Follow all safety procedures and complete opening/closing procedures.
  • Perform first aid, CPR/AED and emergency procedures as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

This position is well suited for someone with a friendly and positive personality who is productive and shows initiative, is an effective written and oral communicator, is reliable and safety-minded.

Essential Functions of the Position
Park District Cornerstones
  • Follow all departmental safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of Park District’s safety and risk management program.
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with residents, colleagues, the public, PDRMA and other agencies or organizations as delegated.
  • Recommends improvements and efficiencies to better accomplish individual and district goals in the best interests of the St. Charles Park District community.
  • Comply with park district policies and administrative procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Work cooperatively and harmoniously with the general public, cooperating agencies and fellow colleagues.
  • Answer telephones and greet and accommodate customers.
  • Provide information and assistance to fellow colleagues.
  • Effectively communicate orally.
  • Process memberships and registrations, collect fees, issue receipts and initiate refunds for programs and activities.
  • Notify class participants of class changes or cancellations.
  • Operate various office machines such as copier, fax, telephone, credit card reader, computer and printer as needed.
  • Maintain a working knowledge and the ability to enforce and explain Park District and Norris Recreation Center procedures, rules and policies.
  • Complete opening and closing procedures and daily checklists.
  • Maintain an orderly and professional atmosphere at the service desk.
  • Keep the service desk and lobby areas clean and neat.
  • Distribute incoming mail and dispatch outgoing mail.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Perform first aid, CPR/AED and execute emergency procedures as necessary.
Marginal Functions of the Position
  • Perform other related duties and/or special projects as assigned.
  • Set up and take down rooms for programs and rentals.
  • Assist and maintain the building cleanliness and integrity.
