Job summary

Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corporation in Hauppauge, NY is seeking an NPI Engineer to develop and implement fabrication and assembly processes to transition new products from New Product Development to full production release, primarily for low-volume, high-precision systems.

Responsibilities include designing production tooling and fixtures, developing assembly work instructions, setting up new product lines, creating time standards, and applying DFM/DFX and ECN practices.

Qualifications

BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
Experience in metal design and fabrication with DFM analysis and recommendations.
Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks or other CAD/3D software.
Gerber/PCB software (viewers).
Microsoft Office.
Minimum 3 years of electronics manufacturing experience.
Understanding of ISO, IPC, and J-Standard.
Ability to read electrical schematics and assembly drawings.
Strong written and verbal skills.
Team leadership and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Plan, design, and implement manufacturing and assembly processes for new product development.
Assist in the New Product Introduction build process. Report design and build issues.
Work with design engineers to determine critical-to-function features and determine best methods to ensure quality and reliability.
Review detailed fabrication and assembly drawings for accuracy and tolerances.
Determine parts, equipment, and tools needed to meet product specs.
Design tooling and fixturing for production and quality control.
Develop and optimize process flow and work instructions.
Support low-volume production to verify achievement of process plans and targets.
Maximize production efficiency by analyzing layout and workflow.
Identify equipment/resource constraints and opportunities.
Use RCAs (8D, 5-Why, DAMAIC, Fish Bone) to address issues.
