Job summary

Alkegen is seeking an R&D New Product Development Engineer to drive growth through new materials and processes for cement-bonded and other refractory systems in the aluminum, power generation, chemical processing and petroleum industries.

You will collaborate with diverse technical teams, improve existing materials, and help scale up successful formulations into manufacturing while applying DOE and data-driven methods.

Qualifications

• BS in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Chemistry.
• Proven track record in fast-paced, innovative development environment.
• At least 2 years of experience in related role within a manufacturing company.
• Proficient in MS Office applications & virtual meeting environments (Teams, Zoom, etc.).
• Proficient in laboratory testing methods and equipment.
• Experience in cross-functional and cross-site teams and working as an individual contributor.

Responsibilities

• Develop new materials and products in growth-oriented, fast paced development environment.
• Collaborate with broad range of technical expertise throughout the company.
• Improve upon existing materials and products.
• Laboratory testing and evaluation of raw materials and refractory systems to ensure new products meet or exceed target characteristics.
• Failure analysis – be a technical resource for material related failures.
• Establish and maintain development project timelines and status updates.
• Provide technical support and assist with scale up of new materials & processes into manufacturing.
• Qualify new and/or alternate raw materials for existing formulations.
• Participate in cross-functional initiatives as required.
• Technical resource to Sales, Engineering and Operations.
