Job summary

EMD Electronics seeks a New Product Development Designer (NPD) to design, develop, and deliver complex mechanical systems. You will work with NPD Engineers and Product Management to ideate, refine concepts, and validate robust solutions, influencing cost and reliability across the product lifecycle.

The role is onsite in Austin, TX; Chandler, AZ; or Breinigsville, PA, with approximately 15–20% travel. Strong SolidWorks skills and 3+ years of mechanical design experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field with 3+ years of mechanical design experience.
• OR Associate degree with 8+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D/2D design.

Responsibilities

• Develop and conceptualize new product designs and create basic drawings for reviews.
• Translate customer and engineering requirements into manufacturable mechanical solutions.
• Work with vendors and outside design support to address design issues and optimize manufacturability.
• Partner with electrical and controls engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components.
• Maintain and manage design documentation and revision control per company standards.
• Deliver project design artifacts as required by the stage-gate process.
• Facilitate transition of new products into the manufacturing environment.
