Job summary

Asante seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to operate under established medical authority through a physician collaboration agreement. The role includes gathering histories, performing exams, and formulating treatment plans within a collaborative care model.

Responsibilities cover in- and out-patient care coordination, ordering diagnostics, assisting in the OR, and triaging calls with physicians.

Qualifications

• 1 year in primary care, ER, surgery or occupational medicine is required.

Job description

Position Summary

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant operates as established medical authorities through collaborative care agreement with physicians and surgeons.

The NP/PA is responsible for but not limited to the following:

• Prepares and records patient’s history, performs physical examinations and formulates treatment plans for patients.
• Participates in management of patient’s care, both in- and out-patient, by facilitating, expediting and coordination of routine diagnostic procedures, writing orders for appropriate medical care and determining need for consultation.
• Takes call with physician.
• Assists surgeon in the operating room.
• Assists the entire team with additional duties throughout the office as necessary.
• Triages patient calls and calls patients back in conjunction with physician.
• Contacts all patients postoperatively as required for follow-up.

Position Qualifications

Experience

• 1 year in primary care, emergency room, surgery or occupational medicine settings is required.
• New graduates welcome; candidates must demonstrate strong clinical judgment, willingness to learn, and ability to work within a collaborative care team.

Education

• Graduation from an accredited Physician’s Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Programme approved by the American Medical Association is required.

Certification/Licensure

• PA-C: Physician Assistant certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA) AND Licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners (OBME) – OR - NP: Nurse Practitioner licensed by Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) AND RN: Registered Nurse licensed by Oregon State Board of Nursing is required.
• BLS: Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon start.
• Required certifications based on area of specialty and defined by Asante medical staff services are as follows:
• Advance Care Nurse Practitioner Certification.
• Must obtain and maintain medical staff membership and appropriate privileges.
• Must be eligible as a provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs.
• Provider shall meet all qualifications to participate in the hospital's programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage.
