Job summary

Cook Children’s is seeking a NP/PA in the Prosper area to support surgical services. The role involves autonomous patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention within approved protocols, both outpatient and inpatient, under physician supervision.

The provider will manage a growing patient load, provide clinic and call coverage, and may round for physicians during absences. Prescriptive authority is included, with the potential to participate in hospital rounding and surgical cases as

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with pediatric nursing experience (1 year strongly preferred).
• Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies (PA) with 1 year of related area experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis and intervention per approved protocols.
• Develops and maintains own volume of patients under physician supervision.
• Provides clinic/call coverage and may round for physicians during absences.
• Prescribes modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, including hospital rounding/consultation and assisting in surgery when appropriate.

Location: Prosper Medical Office Building Department: Prosper Plastic Surgery Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Standard Weekly Hours: 40

Summary: The NP/PA, Surgical functions in a collaborative practice with physician(s) in the outpatient and inpatient setting. Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols. Develops and maintains own volume of patients under the supervision of a physician. Provides practice/clinic/call coverage and may round for physician(s) during periods of absence. Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, up to and including hospital rounding/consultation, assisting in surgery if appropriate and prescriptive authority.

Call Schedule: 2 weeks per month

Education and Experience

• Advanced Practice Registered Nurses Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred.
• Physician Assistants Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies and minimum 1 year of experience in related specialized area strongly preferred.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification

• Advanced Practice Registered Nurses Current Texas professional registered nurse license
• Current Texas professional advanced practice registered nurse license
• Certified as an RNFA preferred
• Certified as a Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
• Current Basic Life Support (CPR) is required.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required when assigned to Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Pediatric nurse practitioner acute care certification required when assigned to Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery and Pediatric Surgery/Trauma
• Physician Assistants Current Texas professional physician assistant license.
• Certified as a PA-C
• Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required when assigned to Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery
