Cook Children's Health Care System is seeking an NP/PA for the Surgical Cardiology inpatient team. Responsibilities include patient assessments, diagnosis, and possibly assisting in surgeries. Candidates should have a Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies and preferably 1 year of pediatric nursing or cardiology experience.
This role requires licensure in Texas and certifications in Basic Life Support (CPR) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). The position operates on a rotating schedule with 10-hour shifts and requires weekend call once a month.

The NP/PA, Surgical (Cardiology - Inpatient) functions in a collaborative practice with physician(s) in the inpatient setting. Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols. Develops and maintains own volume of patients under the supervision of a physician. Provides practice/clinic/call coverage and may round for physician(s) during periods of absence. Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, up to and including hospital rounding/consultation, assisting in surgery if appropriate and prescriptive authority.
10 hour shifts on a rotating schedule. Call is 1 weekend per month. Cardiology experience as an advanced practice provider (NP or PA) is highly preferred; however, cardiology experience as a Registered Nurse will also be considered.
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses
Master's Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred.
Physician Assistants
Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies and minimum 1 year of experience in related specialized area strongly preferred.
