Job summary

Essentia Health in Duluth, MN is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the General Surgery team. The NP/PA will work independently and with physicians to provide high-quality care to diverse patients, from newborns to elders, emphasizing prevention and wellness.

You'll join a busy team of advanced practitioners and physicians, assist in the operating room, coordinate diagnostics, and deliver pre- and post-operative education.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in appropriate state.
• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in appropriate state.
• Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in appropriate state.
• Current CPR certification.
• National certification in applicable area.
• Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice

Responsibilities

• Join a busy, established General Surgery team with multiple Advanced Practitioners and Physicians.
• Support General Surgeons in the operating room as a Surgical Assistant.
• Provide pre-op and post-op patient education.
• Coordinate diagnostic studies, consultations, procedures, and communications.
• Manage post-op care including daily rounds, discharge planning, and follow-up visits.
• Evening and weekend call.
• Support the entire General Surgery physician team

JOB SUMMARY:

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision-making skills, while working both independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. The NP/PA will provide health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention, caring for patients ranging in age. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.

PRACTICE SPECIFICS:

• Candidate would be joining a busy, established, complex surgery team consisting of 5 Advanced Practitioners and 7 Physicians
• Supports General Surgeons in the operation room as Surgical Assist
• Provides pre-op and post-op patient education
• Coordinates diagnostic studies, consultations, procedures, and communications
• Manages post-op care of patients including daily rounds, discharge, patient/family education, and follow up clinic visits
• Evening and weekend call
• Will support entire General Surgery physician team

Licensure/CertificationQualifications:
