Job summary

MercyOne is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a Cardiology team supporting electrophysiology and interventional cardiology services in the Waterloo area of Iowa.

The role offers collaboration with an electrophysiologist and interventional cardiologist, with a mix of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities and strong mentorship within a team-based care model.

Qualifications

• Certified Nurse Practitioner (FNP/AGNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C)
• Eligible for Iowa licensure
• Cardiology experience preferred; strong acute care or internal medicine backgrounds encouraged
• Interest in EP and Interventional Cardiology preferred
• Strong clinical judgment and team collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patients with cardiovascular conditions.
• Provide care in both clinic and hospital settings.
• Support EP and Interventional services including arrhythmia management, post-procedure care (pacemakers, ablations, cath lab cases), and heart disease management.
• Perform rounding, consults, and follow-up care.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and care coordinators.
• Educate patients on treatment plans and lifestyle modifications.

Join a Growing Cardiology Team | EP + Interventional Exposure | Team-Based Care

MercyOne Northeast Iowa is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Cardiology team supporting both Electrophysiology (EP) and Interventional Cardiology services. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative, high-acuity specialty practice alongside experienced physicians and a strong APP team.

Position Highlights

• Work directly with Electrophysiologist and Interventional Cardiologist

• Join a team of 4 experienced Cardiology APPs

• Blend of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities

• Participate in management of complex cardiac patients

• Strong team-based care model with physician collaboration

• Structured onboarding and mentorship

• Monday-Friday schedule with shared call responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities
