Job summary

The State of Nebraska Agriculture - Agency 18 is seeking a Noxious Weed Agriculture Inspector to enforce the Nebraska Noxious Weed Control Act and Seed Law across northeast counties. Expect travel, inspections, and outreach to ensure compliance with state laws.

Qualifications

• Post high school coursework/training in agriculture, plant/animal or natural sciences, or other related field.
• Two years’ experience in a relevant discipline.
• Experience in regulatory inspections and working with the public preferred.
• Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct survey and detection activities for noxious weeds.
• Conduct seed inspections, complaint inspections, and follow-ups.
• Perform noxious weed inspections and follow-ups as needed.
• Evaluate county weed control programs and review annual reports.
• Educate and outreach with county weed superintendents, agricultural industries, the public, and groups.
• Attend local county board meetings.
