Job summary

Agriculture - Agency 18 in Nebraska is seeking a Noxious Weed Agriculture Inspector to enforce the Noxious Weed Control Act and Seed Law across statewide counties. You will conduct routine inspections and evaluate county weed-control programs to ensure compliance with state laws.

Travel is required to cover many counties, and you will engage with county superintendents, agricultural industries, the public, and special interest groups. Comprehensive benefits and career development are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework/training in agriculture, plant/animal or natural sciences, or other program related field. AND Two years' experience in a relevant discipline.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in conducting regulatory inspections and working with the public.

Responsibilities

• Conduct survey and detection activities for noxious weeds.
• Conduct seed inspections, complaint inspections, and follow-up.
• Conduct noxious weed inspections, complaint inspections and follow-up.
• Evaluate county weed control programs and review annual reports.
• Educate and outreach to county weed superintendents, agricultural industries, the public, and special interest groups.
• Attend local county board meetings.
