Position Overview
Job Title:Lead Day Shift Mechanic
Location:Fife, WA

Job Type:Full-Time
Schedule:Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Compensation
Base Pay Range:$37.00 – $43.00+ per hour (based on experience and current wage)
Lead Premium:+$1.00/hour
Tool Allowance:$125/month

About the Role
TheLead Day Shift Mechanicis an essential leadership position responsible for maintaining the pulse of the shop floor. This role is about more than just repairs—it’s aboutservant leadership, team support, and ensuring the shop runs smoothly and safely. The Lead will guide daily operations, support mechanics, and ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
Leadership Responsibilities
Team Support & Oversight
Check in with all mechanics daily: assess needs, offer guidance, and assign tasks
Monitor road call mechanics: track locations, job status, and resource needs
Ensure dailyTailgate Talksoccur and are documented
Provide coaching and enforce company policies (e.g., Lock Out/Tag Out, PPE, Wheel Re-Torque)
Conduct safetyobservationsand promote a culture of accountability
Workflow Management
Review and prioritize thedaily down list
Assign work based on fleet needs and mechanic availability
Ensure propershop coverageand staggered breaks/lunches
Oversee completion ofVehicle Condition Reports (VCRs)and work orders
Handledoor traffic repairsand assign work to self as needed
Fleetwalk & Communication
Assist withFleetwalk inspectionsand ensure defects are addressed
Record alldoor traffic (DT)androad calls (RC)daily
Send end-of-shift summary emails detailing:
DT & RC activity
Trucks down
Repairs completed
Trucks needing night shift attention
Technical Responsibilities
Diagnose and repairmechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and brake systems
Use diagnostic tools:Cummins INSITE, Davie-4, Allison DOC, Detroit Diesel software
Performpreventative maintenanceand general repairs
ConductMIG weldingas needed
Maintain aclean, safe, and OSHA-compliantwork environment
Qualifications
Minimum3 years of experiencein heavy truck maintenance and repair
Proficient withdiagnostic softwareand basic computer skills
Must havepersonal tools and toolbox
Ability to lift up to50 lbs unassistedand work in various physical positions
Welding experienceis a plus
Class A or B CDLpreferred but not required
Strong communication and leadership skills
Safety-Sensitive Role
This is asafety-sensitive position. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing adrug screen, background check, and motor vehicle record (MVR) review.
