Job summary

RubinBrown LLP is seeking a Manager, Assurance Services - Not-for-Profit in Chicago. You will lead assurance engagements for not-for-profit clients, advising on accounting, regulatory matters, and internal controls while mentoring staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; Master's preferred.
• Active CPA required.
• Progressive public accounting experience focused on not-for-profit or other regulated industries.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and not-for-profit reporting requirements.
• Experience with grant/revenue recognition, net asset classifications, endowment accounting, and IRS Form 990 reporting.
• Ability to lead engagements, mentor staff, and manage multiple projects.
• Excellent client relationship and presentation skills with executive leadership and boards.
• Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead assurance engagements for not-for-profit clients, ensuring timely, compliant delivery.
• Advise clients on complex accounting matters, including grant and revenue recognition and IRS Form 990 reporting.
• Evaluate internal controls over donation management, budgeting, and financial reporting; propose improvements.
• Review workpapers and disclosures for accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP and not-for-profit standards.
• Manage engagement budgets, staffing, and progress to meet quality and profitability goals.
• Serve as primary client contact to support financial transparency and strategic decisions.
• Train and mentor staff on assurance skills and not-for-profit best practices.
• Identify cross-service opportunities and support Not-for-Profit Industry Group growth.
• Assist onboarding of new engagements and develop client relationships.
