Job summary

USI Insurance Services is seeking an experienced Benefits Account Manager to manage and retain a book of small employee benefits accounts and serve as the day‑to‑day contact for clients.

You will service a high volume of accounts independently, provide proactive support, and educate clients on compliance topics including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500s, and Health Care Reform. You will coordinate renewals and client communications, and introduce clients to USI resources and services.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years’ experience in employee benefits industry or related marketplace.
• College degree preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Must hold life and disability insurance license.
• Comfortable with internet-based programs and Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to set priorities and manage deadlines.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with minimal instruction.
• Ability to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.
• Strong oral and written communications skills.
• Ability to define problems and generate potential solutions.

Responsibilities

• Service a high volume of accounts independently; without sales associate’s involvement.
• Provide proactive, personalized support to assigned clients; act as primary contact between clients and insurance carriers.
• Provide insurance technical expertise to clients; educate, advise, and aid clients on all compliance topics (ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500s, Health Care Reform).
• Respond to information, documents, and employee benefits inquiries.
• Manage renewal process for accounts including contractual changes and communicating details to insurers and clients.
• Market and place new benefit product offerings; prepare client applications and compare carrier quotes.
• Coordinate and manage client communications via email, phone, and virtual meetings.
• Develop employee communications for renewal changes, enrollment procedures, and benefit updates.
• Introduce clients to USI Benefit Resource Center for resolution support and to USI value-add services.
• Maintain accuracy in agency management and document management systems.
• Ensure deliverable standards are met and participate in peer review.
• Keep current with industry information, technology, and trends.
