Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America, based in Syracuse, NY, seeks a role to support sales of feed commodities to DFA farmer owners in the Northeast. You will coordinate outside sales staff and the commodities team to meet sales goals and add value for farmer owners.

Required are a bachelor’s degree in agriculture business or related field and at least 3 years of commodity trading, with vendor negotiation experience. Travel 25–50% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture business, marketing, or related field.
• 3 years of commodity trading experience including vendor negotiation responsibilities.
• May be required to obtain and maintain other certifications and/or licenses for continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Market commodities to DFA farmer owners in accordance with individual and team margin and sales goals.
• Identify and explore new vendor opportunities.
• Negotiate purchases with vendors.
• Call current and potential farmer owners to share promotional offers and garner additional sales opportunities.
• Schedule and order shipments to farmer owners based on their orders.
• Build relationships with members by performing on-farm visits.
• Communicate with vendors daily to build relationships and obtain current information.
• Provide farmer owners and staff with guidance and direction on commodities markets.
• Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment.
